MARSDEN, STROH, SHAVER, MONTANYE , KITCHEN.
The RANSOM family came to Wyoming Valley in what is nowLuzerne County ,Pennsylvania
about 1773 when Samuel Ransom brought his wife, Esther LAWRENCE and children from CT as part of the Susquehanna Company. They
settled in the area now Plymouth,PA. There Samuel became the Captain of one of the two CT Militia units authorized by the
Continental Congress in 1775. In 1776 these men marched away to become part of the Continental Line. When Indian & British
troops threatened the Valley in 1778 , Ransom resigned his commission and returned home just hours before the Battle of Wyoming
where he was killed. He and Esther Lawrence had nine children but only six- Samuel RANSOM, George Palmer RANSOM, Sybil Ransom
STEPHENS, William RANSOM, Mary Ransom FRANKLIN and Lois RansomBIDLACK had descendants.
The GARINGER line came out
of Northampton Co. in 1810 when John Garinger moved to Hanover Twp.,Luzerne Co with a large family. His grandson, William
Apple Garinger married Phoebe SHAFER and after a career in the lumber industry in White Haven settled in Dallas Twp., Luzerne
Co.. Phoebe's father was Abraham SHAFER who was born in Northampton Co.
The KELLER family were first located in Berks
Co. prior to 1760, then later were in Rush Twp., Schuylkill Co. and in 1824 Jacob KELLER Jr. moved to Columbia Co,PA with
his family. His son Aaron raised his family in Ross Twp. Luz.Co.,PA.
Abram SORBER's family had come to Luzerne Co.
fromNorthampton Co.PA. Abram and his wife, Esther CRAGLE , settled in the area of Huntington Twp that became Union Twp.,
Luzerne Co.,PA .
PRUTZMAN was originally BROTZMAN and the early immigrants(1738) settled near Trappe, PA, later moving
into Northampton Co. and some eventually came into Wyoming Valley.
The MARSDEN surname has not been documented outside
Wyoming Valley where it is found in Wilkes-Barre and later in Forty-Fort.
The STROH family has been traced to Henry
D. & Christiana(Strouse/Stroud) Stroh who whose son Henry married Margaret KREIDLER of Hanover Twp. Later this couple lived
in Forty-Fort.
