September 2005

Thursday September 1st we left Big Timber and traveled east to Hardin MT. and the Grandview RV Park near the Little Big Horn Battlefield. As soon as we got set up we went down to the battlefield where we spent the whole afternoon walking and riding around the battlefield.

Friday September 2nd we left Hardin and moved east to Sundance WY where we spent the night at Mountain View RV Park.

Saturday September 3rd we moved on east to Rapid City and the Hart Ranch RV Resort. This is a beautiful resort located fifteen miles south of Rapid City. It is a Coast to Coast affiliate so it’s only $8.00 a day with large sites, concrete pads etc.

Sunday September 4th we took a ride down to Mt Rushmore and then on to the town of Custer where we stopped at the Purple Pie Place for lunch and a piece of their great pie. We then went on to Custer State Park where we saw many deer, turkeys, wild burros, antelope and buffalo.

Monday September 5th (Labor Day. we just took it easy and did some lounging, it was near 100 degrees so we stayed in the air conditioning.

Tuesday September 6th we washed the motorhome and car and did laundry. We then made a trip to Wal-Mart.

Wednesday September 7th we left Hart Ranch and traveled to Wacky West Campground in Valentine NE. This is a neat western town with cattle yard right in town. We are now in the central time zone.

Thursday September 8th we left Valentine NE and traveled east to Blair NE near Omaha where we stayed at Riverland Park Resort on the Missouri River.

Friday September 9th we traveled to Des Moines IA and Cutty’s RV Resort where Lloyd and Bert Christiansen were waiting for us. We had spent quite a bit of time with Lloyd and Bert last winter and when they found we were coming through the area they invited us to stop at Cutty’s where they are spending the summer. They are natives of Des Moines so they really showed us the area.

Saturday September 10th we went sightseeing with Christiansen’s We went to downtown farmers market and the to the State Capitol Building. We then went Runnels, IA town festival and listened to country music performers.

Sunday September 11th we went through several state and Corp on Engineers Parks in the area. Went to a craft show at one park and at another there was a large group of migrating pelicans. We then returned to the campground and played cards.

Monday September 12th we left Des Moines and traveled south to Peculiar MO. Where we stayed at Peculiar Park Place. This is a real nice park in a peculiar place.

Tuesday September 13th we traveled to Branson MO where we stayed at Turkey Creek Escapees Park. We will get our mail and my prescriptions here.

Wednesday September 14th we got my prescriptions and wandered around Branson and did a Imax theater show on Lewis and Clark.

Thursday September 15th We went to the Mickey Gilley Show in the morning and then lunch at Gilleys Cantina. We ate dinner at Turkey Creek and then went to the Delena Show in the evening.

Friday September 16th We went to the Joey Riley Show in the afternoon. This was the best show we have seen in Branson. Riley is multi-talented and has a great band and is a high energy show.

Thursday September 22nd After seeing more shows and catching up on laundry, maintenance and socializing we left Branson and headed for the Escapees Escapade in DuQuion IL. We traveled east across southern Missouri to Sikeston, MO where we stayed at Hinton RV Park.

Friday September 23rd Sandy made a trip to the beauty shop and then we did some sightseeing. In the evening we went to Lambert’s Café “The home of the throwed roll” Lambert’s is a very good restaurant with excellent food and service. They walk around with a cart full of fresh hot rolls and when you raise your hand they throw a roll to you. There are three Lambert Restaurants. One in Sikeston MO. One in Springfield, MO and one in Folley AL.

Sunday September 25th we left Sikeston and traveled to DuQuion IL State Fairgrounds to attend the Fall Escapade through the 29th. We had a great time at the Escapade with lots of interesting seminars, great entertainment and visiting with old and new friends.

Friday September 30th we left DuQuion and headed for PA, traveling as far as So. Charleston OH where we stopped for the night.

Saturday October 1st we had a nice drive across I-80 and arrived at Farragut at 3:00 pm. It was great to see the kids.
