November 2006
November 02, 06 We left Farragut and traveled to Staunton VA and Walnut Hills RV Park. We had a nice visit with Dick and Betty Souter over dinner at the Cracker Barrel.
11/03/06 We traveled south to Raccoon Valley Escapee RV Park at Heiskell,TN. which is one of our favorite parks and is located about twenty miles north of Knoxville just off I-75.
11/04/06 Sat. We went to Golden Girls Restaurant with Cosmo and Ellen Barona
11/05 06 Sun. We had Barona’s over to our motorhome for dinner then went to clubhouse for Ice Cream and the Jam Session.
11/06/06 Cleaned the motorhome in the morning then went out to eat with Barona’s and Carl and Val Farley. Both couples are members of the full time Holiday Ramblers.
11/07/06 Took a ride over to Oak Ridge and did some tourist stuff.
11/09/06 We went over to Barona’s for lunch of Cincinnati Chili. We then went up to the clubhouse for the Thursday Jam Session.
11/10/06 Friday we went to the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, TN. This is a preservation of the way of life in remote southern Appalachia. This is a very nice and interesting museum.
11/12/06 We went for groceries and then to the ice cream social and jam session which is always enjoyable.
11/13/06 Monday we left Raccoon Valley and traveled north to Renfro Valley KY. We had heard a lot about Renfro Valley country music so we had to check it out. There are two theaters located in large barns on the property. They have big names plus lots of lesser known entertainers come in to perform.
11/14/06 We went to a blue grass show in the big red barn. There was a eight year old boy who played the fiddle and was very good. A great show.
11/16/06 We toured the town , then had dinner at the park restaurant.
11/17/06 We left Renfro Valley and traveled to Bowling Green KY.
11/18/06 We went to the National Corvette Museum which is a 68,000 sq.ft. showcase featuring over seventy-five Corvettes. Bowling Green is also home to The Corvette factory, Camping World Hdqtr’s. and a large Fruit of the Loom factory and warehouse.
11/19/06 Sunday We left Bowling Green and traveled to Nashville and the Jelleystone RV Park.
In the evening we went to the Grand Old Opry to see the Rockettes Christmas Show. Sandy had seen them in New York and insisted that I needed to see the show.
I have to admit I really enjoyed the show.
11/20/06 Monday evening we went to the Opryland Hotel to see the Christmas lights in the hotel. This is a spectacular light display that is different every year. This is the third year we have seen them and every year is better than before.
11/21/06 We left Nashville and traveled to Peach Park in Clanton Alabama where we spent the night.
11/22/06 We moved on south to the Escapee’s Rainbow Plantation in Summerdale AL.
which is a great park with large roomy sites.
11/23/06 Thursday we had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner in the club house. The park furnished the turkey and potatoes and everyone brought a dish. It was a great meal.
11/24/06 We went into Foley and the outlets and did some shopping, In the evening we played Mexican Train in the club house.
11/25/06 We took a ride to Gulf Shores to see how the recovery from the hurricane was coming along. They are almost back to normal after two years.
We then went to Fort Morgan which was built after the War of 1812 and was designed to protect the main ship channel into Mobile Bay. We saw lots of oil rigs in Mobile Bay.
11/26/06-12/03/06 We toured the area around Summerdale and Mobile Bay during the days and played games in the club house in the evenings. We met lots of old friends and made some new ones while at Plantation. One night we went into Summerdale and the Palm Gulf Opry for country music.
