March 2006
Saturday March 4th we left Hondo and traveled to Kerrville and the Guadalupe River Resort. This is a beautiful park right on the shore of the Guadalupe River.
While in Kerrville we did more touring of the hill country and visited a lot of the shops in town. There is a large store in town that I swear has anything you could want from a thumb tack to room full of furniture to a tractor. They had it all.
Tuesday March 7th we left Kerrville and moved up to the Peach Country RV Park in Stonewall TX. which is about twelve miles east of Fredricksburg. While here we toured the LBJ Ranch and museum and the Wild seed Farm which is nearby. This farm propagates all kinds of wildflower seeds.

Wednesday March 8th we went into Fredricksburg and went in a lot of the shops ,had lunch and went to the Nat’l Museum of the Pacific War. The reason this museum is located here is that Fredricksburg is the hometown of Adm. Nimitz. It’s a great museum based on WWII Pacific theatre action.
Thursday we rode around on some of the back roads in the area and ended up at the Enchanted Rock State Park which is very unique in that it reminds you of a moonscape. It’s a very large rock in the middle of the desert.
Saturday March 11th we went back to the Pacific museum where they had a re-enactment of a beach invasion attacking Japanese pill boxes using the museums volunteers all of them veterans. It was a very good show.
Sunday evening we went to Fredricksburg High School where there was a Marine Corps Drum and Bugle concert. They were from Washington DC and put on a terrific show.
Sometimes we just get lucky, being in the right place to catch some of these great shows.
Monday March 13th we left Stonewall and traveled east through Austin and on to Bastrop, TX and the Bastrop River RV Resort right on the Colorado river.
While here we went into Austin and toured the capitol buildings and museum and the downtown music areas.
Tuesday we went to the rodeo at the Texas State Fair. This was our first real rodeo and it was really nice. It was also a great fair.

Thursday March 16th we left Bastrop and traveled to Onalaska, TX and the Northshore RV Resort on Lake Livingston. This is a nice quiet park right on the lake and near Livingston.
Saturday we moved over to the Escapees Rainbows End Park south of Livingston.
We met several couples (Wallens, Hopkins, Baronas and Merritts) we knew and it turned into quite a reunion. We did numerous eat outs and played cards at night, did the ice cream socials etc. Sandy did line dancing and crafts. We had a great time.
Monday March 27th we left Rainbows End and traveled northeast to Village Inn RV Park in Hope AR. In the evening we went in town to Bill Clinton’s boyhood home.

Tuesday we left Hope and traveled to Nashville where we stayed at Yogi Bears RV Resort.
Wednesday March 28th we made a trip to neighboring Camping World and got some supplies and then headed for Heiskell TN and Raccoon Valley SKP Park, one of our favorites, here we got caught up on laundry, attended campground jam sessions, had the car serviced and got caught up on the local news.
Saturday night we had storms come through and got hail damage on the car. Most everyone in the park had some damage. This was our first encounter with damaging hail.
Tuesday April 4th we left Raccoon Valley and traveled to Staunton VA and Walnut Hills Campground. We visited with Dick and Betty Souter over dinner.
Wednesday April 5th we traveled to Farragut and a reunion with family and friends.
While in Farragut we did our income taxes, had the motorhome serviced, did our doctor and dentist appointments and had lots of nice visits with our family and friends.
