February 2007
2/1/07 Thursday We left Benson and traveled to Sunrise RV Resort in Apache Junction AZ and met our Iowa friends, Christiansen’s, Weissharr’s and Seuferer’s . We later went to eat at the Feedbag restaurant with the group.
Friday we all went to Pheonix and Beaudary RV dealership for their sales celebration where they had barbeque chicken and all the trimmings plus entertainment and spent the afternoon. We returned to the park and attended a jam session in the evening.
Sunday we went with the gang to eat at the Sweet Tomato restaurant. We then walked around downtown Mesa. We enjoyed seeing the neat sculptures on every street corner.
2/5/07 We took a ride on the Apache Trail which is a scenic dirt road that goes from Apache Jct. to Globe going thru Superstition Mtn. Tortilla Flats, Lost Dutchman Mine and ends at Roosevelt Lake and Dam.
2/07/07 Wed. We went out to the Goldfield Ghost Town, the only authentic ghost town in the Phoenix area.
2/11/07 Sunday we went to the Old Country Buffet with our friends then went to a flea market in Mesa. We all had cake and ice cream at our motorhome later.
2/12/07 we left Apache Jct and traveled to the North Ranch SKP Park in Congress, AZ north of Wickenburg. We attended the 4 o’clock after we got settled.
2/13/07 Tuesday we took a ride up to Prescott through some very high and scenic mountains, what a beautiful ride.
2/14/07 We went into Wickenburg and the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. This is another very nice museum.
2/19/07 Monday we left North Ranch and traveled west to Quartsite, AZ and Holiday Palms RV Resort.
2/20/07 We went thru the vendor stands which includes almost anything you can think of relating to RV’s and rocks and gems. Sandy also wanted to look up “Paul” who owns a bookstore in town and is known for his brief attire. (He only wears a thong) We found him and sure enough he lived up to his reputation. He does have a nice bookstore.
2/21/07 We left Quartsite and traveled north to Lake Havasu City and Havasu Falls RV Resort. Lake Havasu is known as one of the southwests premier locations for watersports.
The lake is 45 miles long with 450 miles of shoreline. It is also home to one of Arizona’s most popular attractions “The London Bridge” which was purchased in London in 1968 and dismantled and shipped to Lake Havasu and reassembled.
2/24/07 Saturday we left Lake Havasu and returned to Quartsite for the second time.
For the next couple of days we rode around on the back roads and did general sightseeing. This is a nice desert area.
2/27/07 Tuesday we left Quartsite and traveled south to Yuma and the SKP Kofa Co-Op RV Resort.. This is a real nice park in the middle of orange groves. We met two couples we knew from back east. We played pegs and jokers in the clubhouse that evening.
2/28/07 We went to the Yuma Territorial Prison museum which was built in 1876. This prison would certainly not be a nice place to spend your time. We stopped at Walmart on the way back to the park.
We toured around Yuma and the foothills area , went to the post office and mailed income tax material to our tax lady, cleaned motorhome etc. and played cards in the clubhouse in the evenings.
